He Said, She Said
He said, “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”
She said, “Pass a red flag law.”
He said, “Bump stocks are gone.” (They’re not.)
She said, “I want the bump stock ban back.”
She said, “We must renew the assault weapons ban.”
She said, “We need universal background checks.”
She said, “Ban high capacity magazines.”
She said, “Ban handguns.”
She said, “Require microstamping.”
She said, “Pass safe storage laws.”
And she said, “We’ll come into your locked home to check on your guns.”
Either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will be the next president. If you are going to pout over one statement (never acted upon) and one (now overturned) regulation from Donald Trump and use that as an excuse to not vote for him because he’s too anti-gun…then you need to grow up. Grow up and do an actual objective comparison between the candidates and then make an adult decision. You will get either the candidate who banned bump stocks for seven years and made one ill-considered comment about red-flag laws, or you will get the candidate who has embraced and advocated for literally every imaginable gun control measure for nearly 20 years.
This doesn’t even take into account the numerous Trump-appointed federal judges and the three Supreme Court justices who have been instrumental in recent pro-gun court decisions, steadily rolling back infringements on our 2nd Amendment rights. Do you want a president with the anti-gun history of Kamala Harris appointing judges for the next four years? I know I don’t.
Now…I know there are those whose plan is to just skip the political process altogether, and go all “molon labe” when the time comes. Really? I discussed this at length during the last election, but if you actually prefer the option of spilling the blood of your countrymen in a hot civil war over the possibility of avoiding it by getting up off your ass and casting a vote, then I have no use for you. You are at best a fool and at worst a bloodthirsty animal who is no friend to peaceable Americans.
Come November 5th it’s an either/or choice, whether you like it or not. You’re getting either broccoli or spinach for dinner…not ice cream. You can pick one, or one will be picked for you.
