I Ain't 'Fraid Of No Ghost
As it turns out, the Santa Clarita murderer used what the gun control lobby calls a “ghost gun.” They use this language, of course, to make it sound more scary than calling it what it actually is: a gun made from an unfinished receiver, which must be milled to completion, and assembled with parts.
Scary, right? It is only scary if you frightened by the idea that there are people running around this country who are not under your control. Building things without your knowledge. Carrying things without your permission. Doing things out of your control.
Control. That is the operative word in gun control. It is the favorite word of tyrants. Nothing frightens a tyrant more than free people, doing as they please. And in states like California (you know, where Santa Clarita is located), they really love them some control. So they pass laws against this, and they pass laws against that…so that now everything is under control.
Except for technology. And information. As these things advance, people become more and more difficult to rule, as they become more and more capable of doing things without your knowledge…your permission…your control. Today, things like 3D printing and the internet have advanced the abilities of those darned peasants to do things for themselves…things that used to require a factory or professional craftsman, and that had to be purchased from a dealer who had a government license.
And you know what we call people like that? Free. And freedom is scary. But I ain’t afraid of a “ghost gun,” even though bad things can happen when people are free…because even scarier things can happen when they aren’t.
