No Such Thing
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
There is no such thing as a gun-free zone. It is only gun-free until it isn’t anymore, and that is when a criminal ignores your silly rule and commits murder anyway. The only thing gun-free are the law-abiding citizens within, disarmed and at the mercy of a killer.
California is, for all intents and purposes, a “gun-free zone.” Rated number one in the country by the anti-gun Giffords Law Center, California is a gun controller’s wet dream.
Without even researching further than a mass-media news report on today’s shooting, I can come up with at least four laws broken by the killer.
Federal law prohibits handgun possession by anyone under 18. The killer is 16.
At 16, it is impossible to obtain a concealed carry license. The gun was hidden in a backpack.
The school and grounds are a “gun free zone.”
Murder is illegal.
I have little doubt that other laws were broken in the commission of this crime as well. The belief that a sign on the door will prevent violence is foolish, to the point of being dangerous. Gun free zones are a lie.
It’s just a sign.
