This'll Only Take A Minute...
Yes, I’m finally getting around to sharing my breakdown of my latest USPSA match, but it will only take a minute (or two). There honestly isn’t a whole lot to tell, as it was a pretty decent match by my standards, with only a couple of problems other than my normal slowness and propensity for shooting too many C’s and D’s. Here’s the video…
On the first stage of the day, you’ll see me hit a no-shoot target, realize it, and make up the shot. Although I still got the penalty for hitting the no-shoot, the make-up hit minimized the damage to my score. Also on this stage, I made a bit of a strategic error in how I chose to engage the movers on the final array. I went to the static target after first activating the two movers, when I should have either engaged the swinger first, or hit the static target before activating the movers. Shooting them in the order I did caused a good bit of wasted time waiting for the movers to give me a shot. You’ll see it…it’s pretty obvious.
Then on the fourth stage of the day, you’ll see me start out by engaging the array directly in front of the start position, which included four steel poppers, two full-size and two minis. As I engaged the fourth, full-size popper, I heard the bullet hit the target, and moved on without waiting for it to fall. However, the popper did not in fact fall, and I was so focused on the rest of the stage I didn’t notice…even as I ran past it on my way to the final position. Since steel must fall in order to count for score, it went down as a miss.
Still, it was a fun match and despite those bobbles I shot pretty well…at least I didn’t have any disasters. Besides, there’s always next month!
