Sleepwalking
I managed to stagger through another sleep-deprived USPSA match last weekend after working a night shift. To those of you with good sense, it will come as no surprise that zero sleep isn’t really a performance-enhancer when it comes to competitive shooting. In fact, if you watch the video…in which the stages are shown in the order I shot them…you’ll see my hit factors steadily decline as the day progresses, and I gradually become more and more fatigued.
But I enjoy the hell out of a good match, and my work schedule meant that either I shoot tired, or I don’t shoot at all. If I’m perfectly honest, I never even considered sitting it out, and I’m glad I didn’t. At the end of the day, I’m in it for the fun…and fun was had!
